SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that in 2023, they broke a record by carrying over 1,000 tons into orbit with the Falcon 9 rocket. In a groundbreaking achievement for the space industry, SpaceX, known for using the same rocket in numerous missions, has set a new record. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, revealed that they set a record in 2023 by carrying over 1,000 tons into orbit with the Falcon 9 rocket.
SpaceX Breaks New Record with Falcon 9 Musk made the announcement on Twitter, stating, “This is more than the total number of launches by any country’s entire rocket fleet in a year. The second-place record is around 500 tons, held by the Soviet Union. For comparison with current space activities, the rest of the world has launched about 250 tons into orbit this year so far – mostly by China.” SpaceX’s data indicates that there are over 3,500 Starlink satellites in orbit. Considering that this number is expected to rapidly increase in the future, Starlink will soon tightly control the near-Earth orbit.
Whether this increase will pose challenges in future space mission launches is yet to be determined. In the past, concerns were raised about how Starlink and others fill the space around our planet. SpaceX also collaborates with various institutions to launch satellites and missions into space, and it plays a role in the Artemis III mission, which aims to return humanity to the Moon. The company is expected to engage in more collaborations with the US government next year.
