NASA in a Mix-Up! Astronauts Lose Tool Bag in Space

During a repair mission on the International Space Station (ISS), two NASA astronauts accidentally let go of a tool bag. You can now witness this bag freely floating in space. Two NASA astronauts conducted a spacewalk to perform maintenance on the exterior of the International Space Station. However, during the maintenance, they accidentally released a tool bag from their grasp. This marks the addition of a new object among the various items orbiting in Earth’s atmosphere.

You Can Spot the NASA Bag Launched from the ISS The lock bag belonging to NASA’s crew slipped from the hands of astronauts Jasmin Moghbeli and Loral O’Hara, who were working outside the ISS. Currently, the freely floating bag is said to be visible through binoculars, orbiting approximately 500 km above Earth. According to astronomers, anyone looking at the dark sky with a small telescope or a good pair of binoculars can observe this bag. Experts predict that the bag will enter the atmosphere in the coming weeks and break apart when it reaches an altitude of 100 km. Astronomers also took the opportunity to draw attention to space debris in Earth’s orbit, emphasizing that NASA, by tracking the bag in its orbital database, highlights the presence of hundreds of space debris floating freely in the sky. While the loss of a tool bag in space is unusual, such accidents are not unprecedented. However, it’s worth noting that there is limited time to examine this object in the sky as it is expected to break apart after some time.

On another note, NASA has captured the interest of space enthusiasts with exciting news. The agency launched a video streaming channel on Wednesday, November 8th, named “NASA+.” This new platform provides live content globally.
